First things first, get Adobe AIR, the clients we will be talking about today run on this platform. Then check out RefershingApps.com for all sorts of cool apps that run on AIR.  For twitter clients I like twhirl and tweetdeck and Twitter has been kind enough to list all applications that allow you to send and receive Twitter Updates.
